I'm trying to find a good how-to on disconnecting the Day-Time Running Lights on an '07 WRX.
Everything I found on NASIOC seems to be a little scattered and not really reassuring. If someone on here knows how to do it (either being able to hook them back up or not, doesn't matter) or can confirm a certain write-up that works please help me out. I dislike the DRL's and would like to turn them off.

I know with the bugeye cars(hopefully yours is similar), you can open the passenger door, and look straight up at the dash from ground level. In a small gap between the dash and door sill, you can see a white plug there, which is about 50% of the wiring for the DRL module. Unplug it, and you have no DRLs(no problems when switching to HIDs down the road, either). Plug it back in, and you'll have DRLs again.
I'm working on finding the writeup and pics at NASIOC now.
EDIT: Doh!! Ok, well anyway, there's a writeup here... still trying to find pics. http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=169135&highlight=DRL+module+delete+plug
Another, with good pics:

I suppose it isn't a waste, since this is a decent resource to have on the board.

In 2007 WRX models (non-STi, or in other words in 2007 models with out HIDs) you just have to look inside the engine compartment on the passenger side near the firewall. There is a simple clip to un-plug and that's it. Worked perfectly.

Keep in mind with doing it that way that if you change your headlights at all, such as add HID's the system will return. Unclipping that module just un-grounds it.

I found that if you remove the middle console along with the shift boot there will be a little switch thingie attached to the e-brake. disconnect that and you can put in a toggle switch next to the e-brake or in place of the change holder thats what I did they are not disconnected they just dont turn off if you pull the e-brake and you now have the ability to switch them on and off with out reaching under the dash.

What kind of HID's did you buy? I have Kaixen H1's and i am contemplating about putting them in...might just sell them. How was the install process and where did you mount the ballasts?

I have a factory standard knob that not allows me to disable the DRL's, but also run the fogs independently.
Subaru needs to get with the times...

2007 STI DIY HEADLIGHT MODD :NOTE: 2007 STI ONLY
It takes 3 minutes. go under driver side steering colum. theres a bunch of wires. well right next to the sterring colum you will see Blue/Grey Box with a bunch of wires going into it. you wanna cut the green/yellow going into the blue one! heres a pic :::AS YOU CAN SEE I ALREADY CUT/ELECTICAL TAPED IT:::
http://i183.photobucket.com/albums/x84/dwlz28/CTSUBIEMEET-1.jpg
when your done simply just wrap some electical tape around it! this makes it so you dont have any lights on at all when the knobb is turned off. and when you click it to the middle click. it enable the tails/citys. when you fully turn it turns city/HID/tails. highbeams work as well:D
Have fun, very easy!

i am trying to do the DRL disable now, and ran into a problem. i don't seem to have the same connector as the nasioc directions for a 2006 WRX. At least I can't see it.
here is the pic

and here is what's under my glovebox area:

i must be missing something... do i need to tear off some of the plastic to get at the connectors?

That's because under the glovebox DRL delete for '06-'07 models is an STi thing only. For regular WRX models you have to do it inside the engine bay.

thanks! saved me some time here i was going nuts not being able to find it.
did you disconnect the resistor lead in the engine bay?
i don't have plans for an HID upgrade just yet so that would be a temp fix for me..
ps - anyone know what that wire connector is for that's taped onto the black wire cluster?

hmm maybe i am just looking into the wrong place.
people say its on the right side, but i was thinking that was from the perspective of someone laying on the floor looking up.
so it could be up behind where the passenger's right knee would be close to?

All I did was un-plug the DRL connector in the engine bay from the box it's held to on the passenger side portion of the engine bay, up at the firewall.

alright! I found the right plug, i was looking in the opposite direction.
TrickyDik's plan will work temporarily for anyone who has no plans no HIDs in the future, since you are disconnecting the ground.
I've read that doing it this way is no good if you go HID though bc it will make your lights flicker.
The actual DRL module plug to disconnect for 02-07 WRX's is under the glovebox on the passenger side all the way to the right (left if you are lying on your back on the floor).

I never planned on putting HID's in so it's no big deal. I hate HID's, they should be banned in the united states. They've been responsible for too many accidents.

I should have just said that the majority should be banned. The lower brightness level ones are fine but not all of them are good. Just far too bright at night. I hate when I have a car behind me, or one that comes up over a hill at night with bright HID's, hate it even more when it's an SUV (typically the BMW or Lexus kind).
Plus I've read a bunch of reports where a driver said they lost sight after a vehicle passed by that had HID's (usually explained in less detail) and next thing they knew they were off the road. In fact I'm surprised that I haven't been a victim of it yet.

i will agree with you that suvs should not be allowed to have them, BMW uses a self leveling hid projector to provide straight beam of light, this especially sucks for when going up a hill, because they are regulated to hit a certain angle before maxing out, but as soon as the car hits the climax of the hill, the drivers on the other side are ****ed. they will be blinded, If they regulated the lamp type, anything under 6000k ban. which is really white, no bluish color whatsover. Im running 8000k bulbs, which are amazing stilll, really blue and they arent blinding anyhting under a 3ft path at 100 ft.

I disabled my DRL's under the glove box. All the way to the right side.
