I decided to make a thread about this movie because it looks so badass. *Mods, maybe we should think about making categories for general chat/off topic for random threads such as this one*
Trailer: http://movies.yahoo.com/feature/transformers.html
The visual fx are getting so good now it's getting hard to tell what's real and what's CG.

If you were to ever go to the theater once in your life to see a movie, Transformers would be the one to go see. There won't be the same effect of seeing giant robots on your tv screen vs. 100ft screen and Dolby Digital surround sound blasting your ears out. I generally avoid going to the movie theater unless it's a movie that is a must see in theaters. such as... TRANSFORMERS!

I think that its going to be a rediculously great movie. Only thing I dont get, is the release date. July 4th is a stupid day to release a movie, IMO. Its a BBQ, booze, fireworks day. Not a, hey lets hang out and make some egg salad for like 4, maybe 5 hours then go see Transformers day....

true, but it is a wed this year. i'm guessing most town fireworks and bbq's will be the weekend before. maybe?

personally, i'm just tired of the little snot nosed punks. especially in waterbury. and with an average cost of 25 per person, the DVD option is cheaper. oh, and my surround sound is as good as in the theater. and soon the TV will be almost as good!~ok~

I enjoyed it very much. During the movie I was just completely into it. People were clapping in the audience at parts. Then afterward as I thought about it they kind of just threw the story together, wasn't really tied well into their actions or anything. Plus the love story, as hot as the chick is, was kind of lame but I've come to expect that for every similar action packed movie out there so it was not biggy, just expected.
Overall on a scale of 10, I'd give it a 7.5 even an 8. A 10 in visuals by far but because of the simplistic and thrown together plot it gets an 8ish overall.
Very worth seeing!

I agree somewhat Dik. The CGI was really well done. Never for a second did anything look fake. but at one point i almost got dizzy trying to keep up with the action, it was hard for them to fit it all into the screen cause of the size of the machines compared to the rest of the scene.
The one thing I noticed, for a 2.5 hour movie, never did I really look at my watch and say wtf. It was non stop action. I never expect a comic book / cartoon based movie to really live up to any kind of story line.
They also limited the one liners, which was good compared to a movie like Xmen where the threw in stuff like "Im the juggernaut ***** !"

Yea. Basicly if you go in expecting a somewhat cheezy story plus some sort of teenage love story then you'll be happy with the movie.

saw it...
meh... not as good as everyone said. Acting was above par for what I expected but still not goodfellas/departed good.
Some parts we're cheesy and slow, others boring.
The girl interest in the movie really made the difference. When she bent over the hood of the Camaro My jaw fell in my popcorn.

Yea I understand where you're coming from Randy. Certainly not Departed good, but then again this is a completely different movie genre so I didn't expect to be as good as either moobie.
I didn't really think anything was cheesy, at least no more cheesy then a movie about a bunch of giant robots from another world that are intelligent beings and can take the shape of automobiles, aircraft and other sorts of motorized transportation, could be considered.
The girl is gorgeous, and in real life she's 21!
