Does anyone have, or know where I could get locally a VW radio removal tool (2001 Jetta single din I believe) Does Walmart or Best Buy sell these? I guess it's not as simple is a coat hanger like the other removal tools I have seen. I might hack up an old CC if I can't find one.

BestBuy does. Simple way to get rid of the radio.... loose the car! The radio would be gone for sure.

vwvortex is a giant pile of bull****. I avoid that site like the plague.j

As for the 'get rid of the car' . It's my cousins car. I'm installing a stereo in it while he's in Iraq.

lol yes too bad i didn't see this in time.

removal of the stock stereo is a pita.

also if you want some good forums for VWs i would rather go to here

http://www.bentleypublishers.com/volkswagen

vwvortex is ok for classifieds, but the bentley publishers technical discussion forums have WAY more expertise, I had found way more solutions here than vortex when i had my vdub.
