S10 Turbo Project

hello all, i am starting this for Stacie and hopefully she will join here and continue it on but until then here we go!

Its a 99 S10 she has shaved door handles, suicide doors, air bagged suspension, crazy lighting bolts airbrushed on both sides of the truck and on the hood, aftermarket headlights with HIDs, a tonoul cover, and a nice sound system... i think thats it but im sure she will correct it when she joins...

well it has the 2.2 4 banger in it and the thing is gutless so she decided to go with a turbo kit and it arrived today... and here are the pics!

its a T04E .60 compressor and the kit was fabbed up for her by a company and the quality looks good... the BOV is a GReady style and the clutch is a stage 3 6 puck, also the kit came with an FMU for fuel so no electronic needed for this

actually from experience i can tell you turbo'd 4 banger trucks are pretty cool.
I saw one at the envy frenzy show last year in kingston NY. Toyota Tacoma. beautiful truck and sounded sooo nasty with the turbo and i bet has crazy numbers.

But on the flip side v8's have their upsides like one beautiful truck i almost convinced myself to go after last year was a 96 S10 (a girl and her father in maine own it). Show stopper every where it goes.. small block 350 chevy motor in it with super charger and mean looking blower. It was pure extacy just listening to that thing idle and rev up. Been kicking myself in the butt for not buying it ever since i first saw it/heard it run at the Backwoods Bash in CT last year

do u really have to ask that? boost is way better... she has been my girlfriend for a long time and when you date a boy with a Supra the thought of a V8 gets thrown out the window... i have trained her well :) and the owner of the truck is a girl and she is 19 and been build this thing since before i had my car... she has been to NOPI and she has won some trophies and i got some pics of the truck and here they are!

We couldn't find that one, but it was sick too. This one is a dark blue special edition like pat's but turbo, and with volk's.

I like it all, minus the Altezza lights. and def go to 20's! I am a mini trucker at heart and plan to go the same route with my dad's 92 Dakota when I get it. Bags, bodydrop, cummns swap, dually conversion, suicide doors, etc..

Hey guys, this is Stacie, i finally had a minute to make an account :) Thanks to Pat i don't rly have 2 do much explaining...thanks Pat! :D

But here it goes. I'm 19 years old and i've had this truck since my 16th birthday. My dad bought it at an auction completely stock but it did have the same euro tail lights it does now. It's a '99 s10 2WD 2.2 4 banger standard. All the money that has been put into this truck has been my own except for a few parts that were given as presents. My father and i do all of our own work at the convenience of our house. (Pat put the sub, the aftermarket speakers and head unit in)....Happy?

The winter of '06 was the first project season. a xenon body kit was put on, the door handles and tailgate handle were shaved, i had a custom paint job airbrushed on the sides of my truck as well as my dash, a 3"/4" lowering kit was installed, and i was rocking a Kicker 12" L5. She rolled out May 5th, 2007. The day of prom.

During the rest of '07 i brought her to some shows but i wanted more. I was just starting to get into the mini truck scene and it was so exciting.

The winter of '07 my father and i decided to get rid of the lowering kit and put in some air ride suspension. Instead of notching the frame and body dropping the truck we got a bolt on 4-link suspension kit and we went from there. The truck was bagged and suicide doors were next. I actually managed to make this my senior project for school which helped me pass :)

I brought my truck 2 some more shows and started winning but i still had no go :( I could always beat Pat's tacoma but when he got that Supra there was no chance. After this turbo I will give him a run for his money :spin:

Last August i actually got in an accident with it in a round-a-bout. Stupid ABS. I had $4,400 worth of damage and my truck hadn't been appraised. It wasn't far from them totaling it but we had to fix it. I needed a new hood, new grill, new front stock bumper and body kit bumper, new radiator support, new right front fender, new headlights and clear corners, new windshield wash jug and other misc. things. with this money i was able to get a cowl induction hood, angel eye headlights and clear corners, a tonneau cover, an AEM cold air intake, and a few other things. The right front fender had to be repainted and the lightning bolts had to be lined up and while Zeke was up here he went and put some lightning bolts on the hood 4 me.

This winter a turbo is going on and now not only will she be show but she will also have some go :D

i haven't checked out ur little build...not yet at least. I have seen ur car once but i wasn't too close to actually look at it. U were picking pat up at his house to go cruising and i was leaving. Pat did get my HIDs installed...they are amazing :) i want to aim them a tid bit higher tho!

The header is on along with the turbo, most piping and the intercooler. Still gotta drop the tranny switch out the clutch, do the oil lines, the exhaust and a few more odds nd ends. Wish ppl cud be there but i work most nights and i have to get it done for HIN this Sat! :spin:

of course you can get a ride keith :) It was absolutely amazing tearing into it. It was pure ecstasy :) i just can't wait for the final outcome!

I've seen hundreds of mini trucks and got some friends in the scene even a couple higher up people that been in it for as along as mini trucks existed.
So i know my way around one and i gotta say even though i personally prefer body dropped trucks the most...
Hers is definitely one mean machine. And just cause its owned/driven/built by a girl don't let that underestimate the work done to it. Its top notch stuff.
I can see it being a force to be reckoned with at truck shows this year :D

Yea I think re-bleeding the clutch is the first step. It was a rough ride, we had to stop every time she needed to down shift :(

yea true that... subies make good DDs but then again turboed trucks do too... and 600hp Supras, and RB26 swapped 240s as well... i havent heard much about progress but she wants me to be the first to build full boost and thats like offering a coce head a free line... should be intereseting...

Tyler thank you so much for putting up pictures for me :) it's been a little rough but right now things are ok. On the way back from HIN was horrible! that truck wouldn't down shift at all. We were stopping everytime i had to slow down...sorry justin! On sunday my father and I took a look and we decided to bleed the clutch and put all new fluid in...that solved that problem. We took it for a ride and i was spooling but there was no boost. We took it home and one of the clamps that connects to the intercooler was broken...we got a new one and fixed that problem. The worst problem yet is that my throttle cable is so close to my down pipe that it melted almost all the way through. We got a new throttle cable replaced it and wrapped the down pipe and throttle cable in heat wrap...it's doing the job but i think we r just going to re-route the throttle cable through the fire wall. Right now i'm only running about 3 or 4 lbs of boost but tomorrow i will prolly turn it up to 5 or 6 :) rite now it actually puts u in ur seat a little...i can't wait to see what else shes got!!!

Just a fuel pressure regulator.....I believe, could be wrong.

it acts like a pressure regulator but it regulates the pressure depending on the boost where the stock one wouldn't know wut was going on

i took her out on this gorgeous day and my truck was ticking. i checked the oil and it was fine. Sounded almost like an exhaust leak. I took her home and just hung out for a bit so she would cool down. I went out later and just as i look at the header i realize one of the welds broke. I called up the company but the guy was out doing errands so i'm going to give him a call tomorrow. My dad is pretty sure he can weld it up for the time being but i'm hoping they will make me a new one. They said they haven't had any complaints about welds breaking...just my luck :( i will have pics of the gap tomorrow!

thanks for all the concern guys...its been a rough month.

so on september 25th i had someone back into my truck at walgreens which caused $3,100 worth of damage. we got it fixed by the 30th and i didn't take it out til the show on the 4th. i got best of show for light duty trucks and on the way home the rear end in my truck decided it didn't wanna work nemore. we got the truck towed home and fixed the following nite. my dad just ended up welding the spider gears to make a manmade posi rear end. so i had the truck out monady nite all day tuesday and on wednesday we got rear ended. so far the estimate for damage is $3,700. it doesn't look bad but she bent 2 of my support bars for my rear bumper and the bar that protects my gas tank. she's only 22 and she doesn't have insurance. i got a small case of whip lash but i'm doing better. I think we are going to hold off til winter to fix the truck...just in case anyone else has the urge to run in to me...

i've personally always loved this style of 2 toning.
Almost bought a truck down SC with a similar paint scheme as the blazer

and pink i think if she painted her truck pink i think pat would never ride in it again :lol:.

Another style of 2 toning is using a tribal flame look to cut between the 2 colors. i've seen it done numerous times and looks so nice when done right.

we are pretty much lowering the truck even more...a body drop will allow to me lay frame without my body kit. The name fits it perfectly because essentially what's happening is the body is dropping around the frame...we are doing a custom box as well...have somewhat of an idea on that already

see how the body sits flush on the ground vs the first truck when the bags are compressed.. as stacie stated this is from dropping the body around the frame so the frame is pulled up into the body more so allowing the body room to sit on the ground.. It will have a nice flush body to ground look.

its definately rare.. I've seen hundreds of mini trucks already in person to know whats up and i've only seen like 2 with chopped tops.. Oddly enough i seen more converted into convertibles then chopped tops

yeah total craziness! final goal is that when my truck is parked and dropped the roof will be at my armpit :) she's gonna get a fresh coat of paint and shes gonna be beautiful! i lay frame all the way around as of now...just gotta chop some more of the frame! about another month or two and sh will be out!

she's gonna be low! i'm 5'3" so it's not too bad. and there's gonna be a sun roof u can put ur head out! you can always play with the switches, but now i can throw sparks :)
