This ****** is ridiculous what are we suppose to do as americans to try and find a job. You look all day for a job you have experience in, or a degree in and there is someone working a job they got from a friend or relative that they have no business working it. Something needs to change soon or this country is going to screw its self. Let the rich keep getting richer and the poor suffer because we didn't make the rich even more money.
If you dont have a job right now on the forum. Lets vent!!

Well when you have a good career doing log home design and the owner has to close the business. And you get laid off because he's to stupid to realize that pre-economic crisis ways of thinking don't work anymore! At age 24 I shouldn't be the one thinking that we needed to restructure for these tough times. Then I am the one told that we know what were doing, and then i get laid off two weeks later. Company is closed now, but for the people that are in these high positions thinking that younger people's opinions don't matter is what drives me nuts!

btw. my neighbor has been unemployed for over 6 months now. i heard her on the phone outside yesterday turn down an offer for 83k in boston. sound like unemployment life might not be so bad.
i wish it was that easy :unamused:
living off 235 bucks a week is damn near impossiable.
Specially with what i like to do for fun.
Luckily i barely still have a job. (and what i mean by barely is they lay us off temporarily every once in a while)
No i will not take the excuse of "maybe you should change your life style then"
cause cars are my life... without them. I have no life in a sense. That may sound stupid.. that may sound whack. But ya know what damnit its what i like in life and nothings ever gonna take that away from me.

you think its hard finding a job at 24? imagine being laid off when you are 55. there isnt an employer out there that would touch that.

Why would she do that? I know all about older people losing there job, i just moved from michigan. 30-60 year old people with no job now in the big three and most of them have no college or anything. It sucks when the hole your trying to dig yourself out of gets deeper and deeper every day.

I almost had no Job back in January. I work at Foss. I was walking out of getting all set to start school again and got a call that I had to decide in 40minutes wether to go to nights or take the layoff and wait till they start hiring back. I took nights and still did 2 classes. Now that class is out we are too bussy and they won't hire more people yet so I've been workin 60hrs a week cause they'd rather pay the overtime than hire even half the people they need to try and catch up on orders. I'm a work a holic with an expensive swap going so I'll take the OT. I'll say to anyone who has put off schooling or is planning on not getting any. GO TO SCHOOL! Student loans can pay just about all of stuff and when you get out ussually schools have connections to get youa job if you can't find one before hand AND eve just doing like 1-2 classes a semester is a good idea.

The economy obviously sucks and i've had a tough time finding a "real" job as well. So i pretty much became the master at finding odd jobs. Other than OSG part time This is what i've been doing:
This is my primary:
http://shop.ebay.com/merchant/tryanfx603_W0QQ_nkwZQQ_armrsZ1QQ_fromZ
This is secondary:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FOREX
I've also been researching a way to make extra cash using google and twitter. You post advertising links from google adsense (i think thats what it is) in tweets and you get paid. When i start i'll let you guys know how it works/goes and what the "catch" is.
All of the above is done from your home computer. I'm no billy mays but there's lots of opportunities on the internets if you look hard enough :-) I know a lot of peeps are out of jobs and/or going to be losing them soon. I have no problem helpin a brother out! If you find other stuff like this post em up.

The union leader is still looking for paper delivery people. Ya the hours are weird and you work every day but its easy and you will still have the whole day to do whatever you want once your done. Once you sign the contract and own the rute you can take days off whenever you want as long as you pay a temp or a friend to do it for you but they dont know how much every day is worth so just give them half of what your day is worth that way u still get money without having to go in. Thats what im doing so i can make it to NEFR this weekend. Even if you gave them half they will still get around $50 for only 3 hours of work and u will get $50 for nothing. Its a Win Win

careful with tying military and bonus together in these times. make sure its in the contract...military doesnt have a problem getting people right now and doesnt have to give you money if youre begging to get in.

Looks like i might be starting some land scraping friday. Got a couple of days in the past 2 days working for the guy i plow snow for in the winter. One of his workers thought he was worth 45+ a year landscaping. Brian, the owner, laughed at him and said he can leave whenever to go find it! So i'm pretty sure i'll take over his place for the rest of the season until i find something better in the spring.

downside is if you mess up just one of those areas its a black dot on your resume, and they dont want you.
because her unemployment check is big enough to support her living standards and the US is full of spoiled employees thinking they are underpaid. She is in her mid 30s as well.
the reason they think they are underpaid is the celebrities they see flawnting about in their ferrari's and lambo's who seem to never work and only goof off. so the work force thinks to themseleves "well im working hard why cant i have a ferrari or a lambo?"
also, US military is hiring. huge sign on bonus as well.. up to 50k i believe

Too bad, I got the boot after 11 years with MBNA when Bank Of America bought them out. I managed to land a job with out landscaper who used to care for the property. It's not too bad, but I took a huge paycut, that I still have not made up even after 3 years.
So hang in there, the key is networking, don't be afraid to ask anyone who'll listen if they are hiring or knows someone who is. I found the newspaper ads to be just about useless all my life when job hunting.
Goodluck.
