Rush 2112... its just amazing rush..
Blues Brothers soundtack... action packed, tons of big names, not a boring song on it & how many people were introduced to Cab Calloway with that movie?
Joe Surfin' with the alien..this represent the unleashing of a guitar beast.. the man who taught Vai to fly and Kirk Hamster of Metallica the monster depths of theory he is aware of.
MASTER OF PUPPETS
go ahead and laff at this one...
David Lee Roth.. Eat 'em and smile... who else could get billy sheehan and steve vai on the same album? Other than drooling dave the ENTIRE album is a shred fest & the tour was even better

Its tough, you could mention one band and all the sudden regardless of anything else you listen to, you're pinned down with a stigma of "oh, you like ****ty music, you listen to so and so, blahblahblah."
makes me want to throat punch people.
But looking at your list, 2pac next to john mayer makes me  its nice to see a varied music taste

Even though I don't know much about instruments, melodies, beats and I sure as hell can't sing... I still think music is a huge part of my life.
To me it's more about the artists than the song.
I can't stand songs NOT written by the performer, unless its a remake.
A lot of the mainstream music today is written by washed up signers and performed by puppets.
John Mayer broke the mold by sticking his middle finger up at the record companies and breaking away from his "your body is a wonderland" roots and moving on to a blues kick that has launched him into super stardom.
Both BB King and Eric Clapton are saying he's the "next big thing" in guitar players.
Slow Hands himself has nicknamed him "Slow Hands Jr"
I saw the Trio in concert back in 05 at the Avalon and Steven Tyler performed a Blues riff with Mayer that was nothing short of awesome.
I do get a lot of flack for being a John Mayer fan, only because people know him as the "pop" star of his younger days.
2Pac.... I know everysong, every lyric he ever wrote.
I've seen all his movies, read all his books and own all his albums.
Little known fact, he wrote the All Eyez on Me DOUBLE album in 3 months and to date it's sold Millions of copies.
He was a bundle of talent that will probably never be repeated.

"Your Body.." got big when I was in college and I never thought much of it, or of him in general. i did have a lot of respect for him when I saw him on the Chappell show.
im right there with you, when it comes to the technical aspects of music i dont know **** for ****, but since i was 7, music has been a large part of my life, my wife says sometimes its all encompassing. Its just the way it is though, you know? And im already looking forward to sharing it with my kid.
I never got into 2pac, i understand the talent, but the west coast style, just isnt really my thing, save for Cypress Hill and now MC's like Busdriver and Nocando, but those guys are doing their own thing and just HAPPEN to be from Cali. but i understand the...obsession so to speak. Im the same way with a Beastie Boys and RHCP

Are you stubborn with your music?
I tend to have certain artists I trust and I am not very receptive to new music/artists.
It literally takes someone to force me to listen to new stuff
I do however LOVE SIRIUS Alternative Nation.
All kinds of new music!

God, im horribly stubborn. Most of the stuff I listen to Ive been listening to for the last 15+ years
Im not generally receptive to new music, especially nowadays and anything new I DO listen to, Is usually a band that has already been around that I just never listened to.
I use last.fm for my music, it keeps track of everything i listen to and builds up lists for recommendation, ive found some stuff i really like

Here we go! I like metal. :RCKSTR:So these will be pretty metal. And i wouldn't call them "perfect" albums but they started a landslide in their respected genres and are still awesome today. I do look at my music from a more "musical" standpoint because I do play guitar, i was in a band for 4 years, and i was going to metal shows when push pits were cool. That really means nothing but i figured i'd throw it out there haha. In no particular order...
ZAO - Liberate te ex inferis
You're probably asking yourself "who the **** is Zao?" Listen to this album and their self titled album and you will hear every As I Lay Dying riff (slight over exageration) and half of the guitar work you hear in modern metal/metalcore/hardcore. You will be shocked. This band is probably the second most ripped off metal band behind...
Tool - Aenima
You could argue every one of their albums was the best ever/most influential blah blah blah. This band spawned more rip off bands than i want to discuss.
Deftones - Around the Fur
My favorite album ever. I love this album. I would club baby seals if someone took it away from me.
Misery Signals - Mirrors
NOTHING sounded like Misery signals when they first came out. Every Song on this album is awesome. The guitar work gives me chills. I love this band. You should too.
Sliknot - Self titled
This is the heaviest album EVER. When this came out it melted my face. It was brutal, unrelenting, and absolutely insane. Nothing matched the intensity of this album and hardly anything comes close even to this day. It made me want to punch babies. nuff said
and lastly...
Marilyn Manson - Anti Christ Superstar
I'm really not a fan of this dude. Whenever i talk to to a metal head they say this is the "perfect" album or the closest anyone has ever come to making a perfect album. It is the only album i have ever experienced that type of thing. Truth? you be the judge. :RCKSTR:

Marilyn Manson - Anti Christ Superstar
I couldnt agree more with these 2 albums and feel like a douche not putting them on my list ACS is just a PHENOMENAL album. Flawless.

I really like their stuff as Coheed. The Shabutie stuff, not so much, though its not bad. I'm torn on "The Second Stage Turbine Blade". Its definatly a transitional album from Shabutie to Coheed. Half the tracks on it are from Shabutie - Delirium Trigger.

Best album ever is probably KSE's As Daylight Dies. The music is good, but the transistion between songs is what makes it so perfect. The album fits together so perfectly! You can't listen to that album on shuffle for that reason.
