Hey guys, has anyone had this installed on their car? I got a quote to have the front part of the hood, part of the fenders, front bumper and side mirrors for $550. The entire hood and entire fenders is $1100.

With winter coming and lot's of complaints of paint easily chipping on these cars I'm really considering it.

Don't bother. I have made it through a year and a half with black.

i wouldn't waste your money... if it chips due to ****ty paint, save money and have it painted in good paint... problem solved. and if this is that clear plastic stuff it looks terrible! i have seen it on a silver Supra and looked really bad, it would be way too noticeable on black and when the clear film fades you will want to die...

Wow and that's year round driving? Looking at some of the threads on NASIOC has me scared! I really don't want rust spots on a brand new car!

Yea I thought about the price compared to just having it repainted in a few years. It's tough to say whether all the claims on NASIOC are legit about the paint chipping right down to metal from small rocks....I'd just hate to see ANY rust form so soon on a brand new car.

This Venture Shield seems to be a good product. It is a film that they put on.

i wouldn't worry about rust forming... go the first year and if you get chips repaint... or if you had a lot of extra money you could buy a winter bumper, hood, and fenders... lol jk i would stay away from the film... if you ever got it and it stayed on for more then 6 months and had time to fully cure you will be pealing your paint off...

Year round driving, I have 33k on it all ready.

So far I have had one or two small chips on the hood. Not down to metal though. Easily fixed with a small dab of touch-up. (Use a toothpick to apply, it will keep it from bubbling up and it will stay even.)

Yea that does make sense (just repainting it). Thanks for the opinions man!

Thanks for the tips man! I think I'm just gonna drive it as is and if I get any bad chips I'll get a repaint at some point and be done with it. I like the color of my paint too much to dull it with the film.

Side note, I used to make Venture shield. They are super sticklers for quality on their product, but they paid out the ass for it, probably why their prices are so high.

Out of all the "clearbra" makers they get the best reviews so far as I can tell.

Yeah, they were REAL strict about that stuff. Was made in clean rooms, with cotton less jackets and hairnets. I think we got between 15 and 20k per roll, which was a few hundred pounds.

I think the paint may be better then people give it credit for!

I hit a rather large fox tonight doing about 75 on 87s (going to Albany). Nothing I could do about it. Some how the only damage is small paint chip right underneath the bumper (have to get on the ground and sort of look up at it). I think it ducked it's head just before I hit....and I ran right over it (just the head). It didn't go underneath the car...there was a small thud and then like I road over a speed bump but just up front.

I was super pissed at first having got the car 1 week ago today. After seeing no damage I felt better...and then felt bad for the fox.

Anywho, just thought I'd share.
