So I just received a message today that tells me I got hosed. Basicly when you re-enlist in the military you become eligible for bonus' depending on if they are in need of people in your job field and at your rank. As of 2 weeks ago, based on me being an E-5 and in for 3 years I was eligible for a $60,000 bonus to re-enlist for 4 more years. Something I had been seriously debating on doing since I would have received $51,000 after taxes. Half of that 51k would have been up front lump sum, the other half over the course of the enlistment you sign up for (4 years in my case).
The message I received tells me that money is now gone. We are at 110% filled in my job field so they are in no need of people to re-enlist for the moment. Thank you Coast Guard for making my decision to leave that much easier.

No thanks Vlad. The only other service that has a similar job field that I'm in is the Navy. Which doesn't interest me at all since they'll bump me down to an E-2 again when I'm already an E-5. Same with the other services, not to mention I'd have to re-do boot camp with which ever service I go in.
Basicly the Coast Guard is so different compared to the other services that they don't recognize anything we've done in terms of training and rank promotions.
Eugene, I'm going to be working for public service one way or another, either as a Police/Firefighter/EMT/Dispatcher or in the Coast Guard. The only plus about being in Police/FF/EMT/Dispatcher is that I can earn overtime, but no bonus' like the military.
There's a win to both sides, well there was at least until my bonus went away. So far nothing in the private sector interests me unless I work for myself and currently I don't have the capital to set-up a private security company (V.I.P. protection, contract security, etc. etc.)

^^^lol, I am considered a "expert" in shooting the pistol, m16 and shotgun (step 1. aim in the general direction you wish to shoot, step 2. pull trigger).
My name does include "Tricky" in it which implies that I'm "sneaky" and "manipulative"...I think you just helped me find my new job. Would you care to be my "contact" or "middle-man" as they call it. You'll get 10% for every contract you book for me.
