How do you like the tint? I want to tint the windows on my STi, but I'm still a bit unsure of the quality of films and all that...

Anyway, nice STi!! Nice mod list so far too.

Kevin

anyway about the tint.
I love it was one of the first things I did. It came with a lifetime warranty and was laser cut. I went as dark as I could legally I still can see fine at night.

I'm thinking some kind of black or bronze to paint them

Murphy2012
07-14-2007, 11:49 PM
It looks real nice, just IMO I think the window spoilers with the whale tale wings dont look right, which sucks cause I would love to get one for mine, but I have a Whale Tale.

Car is sick though. I have bronze WEDsport wheels on my car with Brembos, and believe me, bronze is not much better for brake dust. With those brakes, the only thing you can really do to reduce break dust is get pads with low dust ratings, however youll be sacrificing some overall braking power. Not sure if you Auto X or anything, but if you dont, I suppose that not all of brembos true braking power is needed for a daily driver.

Nate8409
07-15-2007, 01:20 AM
It is needed.. but not really. Just really good tires and you are all set.

you get your car put back together yet?

wagonmafia
11-10-2007, 08:41 PM
i got it back on the road but im still waiting on my hood. Its like they taking forever with it. as soon i get that its going to the shop for a new coat of paint. Still contemplating whether i should paint my carbon hood or not?

Kevin
11-10-2007, 09:25 PM
you ever think about leaving the middle carbon and painting the sides of it. I seen a few done like that and looked pretty sweet.

wagonmafia
11-12-2007, 07:35 PM
if i can afford to get the carbon trunk lid for my wagon ill keep it the way it is. Think a carbon hood and trunk on the wagon would look pretty pimp. Just the wagon tailgate is more than the hood.

Kevin
12-09-2007, 04:00 PM
umm I think around the spring/summer time. I just dropped like 3k buying stuff for a apartment so after I move I can go crazy on the car. I should save a bunch of money by moving to nh.
I don't know if I would sell it though. I like keeping all the stock parts just in case.

the catback I bought off of brandon. It's pretty loud lol

wagonmafia
12-23-2007, 03:30 PM
that is crazy. what does it sound like in the car?

Kevin
12-23-2007, 03:33 PM
pretty bad it drones alot but that could be the leak I have till my new gaskets show up. something is loose in the canister. and it was the worst fitting catback I ever put on lol. I think iam having a twin tip flowmaster wleded on to instead of the big can.

wagonmafia
12-23-2007, 08:00 PM
dam i kinda thought it went on pretty easy. my greddy is a real ***** to get on as the mounts are a bit too thick for my stock hangars.

chris07outback
12-23-2007, 10:52 PM
they ebay fit very easy on my car. wierd, sounds good though they are quite loud. we have the same setup right now and I dont get much drone in my wagon.

Kevin
12-24-2007, 08:45 AM
I think its the leak I have thats causing the drone. but it takes forever to get new gaskets.

wagonmafia
12-24-2007, 09:30 AM
what gasket is it that you need. i bought a new donut gasket and only used it for a week that you can have.

Kevin
12-24-2007, 10:06 AM
I need the flat flange 3" 2 bolt gaskets I ordered 4 of them from rich at daddy's. I think I have like 3 of the donut gaskets. thanks though

Nice choice with the Exhaust. Prodrives are very nice. Very similar tone to my TurboXS that I showed you in that video.

Nate8409
01-31-2008, 09:08 AM
Good choice with the prodrive. The one I bought has been on like tw pervious cars and is multiple years old. And still looks awesome. Prodrive makes these with quality steel and welds them right.

Kevin
02-01-2008, 07:01 AM

i have a stupid but interesting question, on an FMIC do they all require the pipes to go in fromt he bottom of the cooler? I have never seen one coming from teh top and i think it would look way better. not really pertaining to your car specifically but, i just noticed again and again...

Kevin
11-15-2008, 12:49 PM
I have seen both setup on cars. but on the most of the higher end set ups go in on the bottom of the end tank for a smooth transition. the next fmic I get you won't be able to see the endtanks or pipes.

Murphy2012
11-15-2008, 01:03 PM
What is wrong with your current FMIC?

Kevin
11-15-2008, 01:08 PM
nothing right now but its gonna be to small for gt35 later on:devil:

I'll end up with a aps dr725

Murphy2012
11-15-2008, 01:24 PM
Ahhh I see...no offense but why not just wait and build the motor and get it ready for the big turbo and not spend the extra dough on the other turbos? dr725 is siiiick btw

freak's buddy just blew his motor that had a 35r on it, might want to check in with him and see what might have been the issues to take of those before you do the swap! He didnt have a ton of miles on the turbo either.

Kevin
11-15-2008, 01:32 PM
I don't want to spend the crazy money untill the car is paid off. I can see were your coming from though. I think if I went right to the big turbo it would way to much for me lol.

Murphy2012
11-15-2008, 01:35 PM
LOL I get it. I think I wants to put the 18g wheel in my vf39 for some more top end, and no break up on the low end. Need to get my ass tuned asap too. Putting the Walbro in soon and a new set of plugs, also looking into the turbo inlet from Gimmick. Still my next big purchase is going to be a six speed, seeing cars with same set ups as mine (except a 6 speed) holding boost into corners without left foot braking is starting to make me mad!
Maybe I should give up autox and just turn into a track whore so I dont need so much bottom end. Then the vf39 wouldnt be enough and I would turn into wanting something huge, and blowing **** up, etc. I will never be happy, its settled!

Kevin
11-15-2008, 01:57 PM
yup always gonna want more lol

maybe try some meth+ewg and 6speed and tune with the vf-39 and you will be happy for a while.

Murphy2012
11-15-2008, 02:12 PM
That was a thought. Been looking into meth lately, thinking about picking up a kit sometime. EWG would be real sick too, but the 6 speed/tune is coming first!

Nate8409
11-16-2008, 10:56 AM
Just put her back to stock and get an STI now. Lots of your current parts will carry over and the loss wont be bad. You can make money back on the Brembos and keep all your suspension parts for an STI.

That was a thought. Been looking into meth lately, thinking about picking up a kit sometime. EWG would be real sick too, but the 6 speed/tune is coming first!

its old and won't handle a gt30 and meth

Meth would make it handle it better.

So are you datalogging with anything? Are you still on a single Walbro 255 pump? My single 255 maxed out with an FP Green and the 30R will out flow that so I'm just wondering.

Do you already have the 850s? I have a 35R and I'm currently outflowing 950s so I'm wondering if those are big enough? How much base fuel pressure is the regulator set too? Or is it the stock one?

Do you have a wideband O2 sensor you can log? I take it since you are talking about taking it somewhere to get tuned you aren't using any open source tuning or datalogging feed back?

Last I knew you where on Access Port but was unsure if you can datalog with the version you had.

It sounds awesome man good luck with everything! I know its your street car so I get nervious about logging WBO2, Knock retard, logged boost through a MAP sensor, ignition timing and s*** like that but I'm sure you've been looking into that stuff if you went to a GT30R.

He will def outrun his single pump and 950's with that set up.

EFI makes a pretty sweet dual fuel pump set up and fuel rail kit. He'll need both. He should go with WH or DW 1100's

I researched rotated gt-30 kits on nasioc on most people are running 850cc injectors and a single walboro pump. I even saw a few gt-35 setups with 850's and a single pump. people are steping up to 1100's with the topfeed conversion for running e-85. As far as logging the car I will have an open source tune and efi logics will be tunning it most likely. I'am looking at buying a full gauge setup with boost, oil pressure, exhuast gas temp, wide band and a aquamist meth flow gauge.

I'm unsure about what boost controller to with besides having the tial 44mm ewg oh ya here is the pic of what I opened a few minutes ago when I got home from work.

Well you'll know for sure once they have it on the dyno if you have enough pump and injector in the car.

Good to hear your picking up a wideband. I know you are going to have them tune it but are you planning on datalogging the car with a tactrix cable or anything to monitor stuff yourself or just sticking with the gauges?

I personally prefer to log a MAP sensor than watch a boost gauge. The one I have in my 1g only goes to 35psi. anyway so its basically useless to me anyway. I always log the AEM 5 bar though.

I'm guessing that the first time you do a 3rd gear pull on the street and it hits full boost your not going to be thinking about looking at gauges you know what I'm saying?

I usually watch the Tach and the knock light and try not to hit a wall. Its nice to be able to pick apart a log when your not going 130-140 MPH too.

The other thing I was thinking is how much airflow can your stock MAF read accurately too? 1g DSM MAF's are only good to 380cfm or 28lbs/min. I saw 84 lbs/min. on my 10.6 pass. Just something to look into may not even be an issue on your car I know KGJ996 went to speed density though.

Kevin
11-12-2010, 07:07 PM
ya there are dozens of cars with gt30 and gt35 turbo setups with 850's and a single walbro. I'am not going insane with boost so It should be plenty of fuel.
I'm looking for a better fmic and fuel rails. The tuner suggests a diffrent brand of injectors and equal length headers but I can't make it sound like a honda.
On the ecu ? my sti is a 32 bit ecu compared to his 16 bit so I guess it can handle a lot more air I guess lol. I have a lot more money to spend but I'am working 6-7 12 days a week so the money is rolling but I'am beat. I hope by the spring time It will be done.

I'd PM EFI about the maf. Pretty sure you'll have to go big maf.

Seraphinwolf
11-12-2010, 08:22 PM

Oh poop. Maybe I need to find a larger pump...

I've done a little reading that's all suggested a single larger pump rather than going to a dual setup for safety reasons. Between flow rate drops, a risk of one pump failing or slowly dying out and then resulting issues cause you be a surprise rather than noticing a presure drop right off the bat, and of course the comexity of the set up of two pumps to begin with.

the kit comes with that already talked to pete a little bit.
they don't like my pe injectors and ssac fmic. so I guess I'am gonna go with a aps fmic.

ya I looked into that and haven't seen anything great about dual pumps. I think a larger aeromotive pump would be good for higher power.

I'll keep a watch to see what you decide on. Cause I'll probably go with something similar. I've 850cc injectors though 6 instead of 4 so I'm goodthere but my turbo is comparable to a 40R so I'll have to see about what's gonna push that much fuel. What are your current goal for the STi right now?

Kevin
11-13-2010, 05:34 AM
Iam thinking around 400 whp with the 30r then maybe 500+ with 35r after i get it all sorted out with better axels and driveshaft.

Seraphinwolf
11-13-2010, 07:01 AM
You aren't gonna trust the STi axles to 400-500whp?! Seen critical failure somewhere? I should be pushing close to 600 range and have no fear of them going out on me.

Nick S.
11-13-2010, 02:25 PM
Kevin, usually the airflow limit of the MAF itself is the issue not so much the ECU. Some of them don't work well at higher airflow frequencies.

As far as two pumps vs. one if your logging fuel pressure you'd know right away if there was a problem with one of the pumps. I'd be very suprised if somebody running a turbo that flow as much as a 40R does didn't log fuel pressure.

Kevin do you have an adjustable fuel pressure regulator yet? If you up the pump to something that flows more you may overrun the stock pressure regulator.

Seeing as you already have the walbro 255 I figured I'd let you know a lot of people use a 255 walbro to feed a bosch 044 pump in series and it works great. Hear is a link to the bosch pump if your interested in going that route.

How are they lining them up? 255 to a sloshbox and the "044" feeding out the box?

Nick S.
11-14-2010, 12:17 AM
Usually the 255 is intank and the "044" is put inline between the tank and the filter with -6 AN lines.

Seraphinwolf
11-14-2010, 03:34 AM
I'm trying to picture how the 255 isn't just causing a bottleneck where you could simply run a feed line with filter into the tank off the pump assembly. Is the 255 doing any actual work or just keeping the connections all in place? The October issue of DSport has a whole article on pumps abd testing like 40 different pumps.

Nick S.
11-14-2010, 12:43 PM
It works kinda like a boost pump flooding the inlet of the "044" so that it does less work and increasing the capacity of the "044".

I'am pretty sure the stock ecu can handle the air. the kit I bought comes with a big maf cold air intake so that will help. On the fuel pump the walbro should be plenty for my power goals at first. With a bigger turbo or the 30r being pushed to the limits I will need something bigger.

The next parts I have to buy is the aquamist meth kit, better fmic ebay one sucks lol, and a exedy twin plate clutch.

then fuel rails, head gaskets, water pump/timing belt setup, rallispec forged shortblock with coated forged pistons and eagle h-beam rods, better oil pickuptube, new oil pump, arp head studs, spec c water tank. better gauge setup/wideband.

so theres 10k in parts lol
