Hey ya'll,

Even though there are a ton of mods I want to do to my car, due to recent events and me coming home earlier than planned, the main one I will be limited to doing is some sound deadening to try and kill some of the drone from my exaust.

I was wondering a couple of things here. 1. Has anyone else done this yet? 2. If so, about how much stuff did you use? 3. If not, would anyone like to pool together and split an order along with help each other with the installs?

Anyway, look forward to hearing some answers and even better, installing!

B

i like where this is going! i have done very minor stuff on my own car but used to do it for work and the stereo side of things but it will work... as far as splitting an order and helping install i am so down and i think we need to meet and talk about this in person when you get back. im good friends with justin and dan and found out about you the day you left

lets see the stuff you want to buy. do you just want to go with normal dynamat or better stuff for more sound and road noise deadening?

Awesome. What I'm looking at will be a combo of things like CCF, MLV, etc. I just don't know how much each of us would nead/want of each item. I've been doing a good bit of research on the topic and to me for what I would like to do it will take a good bit of work and supplies. But since most of the products get cheaper the more you order I figured this might be the best bet.

As for products, I've done a bit of research on that as well and it seems there are a few brands out there that a lot of people like.SDSD (Sound Deadening Show Down if I remember right), and some other brands as well. Not sure which would be cheaper yet though.

I look forward to talking with ya'll when I get back and setting up an install date. I do think though that the installs might have to span over a couple days if all three or maybe more of us want to do this depending on the amount or depth people want to go. I know for what I want to do it'd be close to 1 day in itself on my car.

Anyway we'll talk when I get back, I should be back in Bratt on the 31st.

Dynamat works really well, especially the trunk kits. It defiantly makes a difference. It reduces body panel rattle due to adding subs and the like, but it also reduces road noise and depending on location of placement you can reduce the drone of exhaust.

Yeah Dynamat will help a bit as it reduces the rattles but to get more out of it you also need some stuff like closed cell foam to reduce other vibrations and soak up ambient sounds. Then a good barrier like MLV to kinda "seal out" the outside noises.

Will do although I think I might hold off until spring due to money and weather. It's best to do the stuff at around 70 degrees. I have however firgured out that to do my car the way I want I'd need about 50sqft of the closed-cell foam and barrier stuff. That's on an 08 hatch. Not sure what others would need if they are interested in buying it together to save some cash.
