Went to Newport this weekend for ha ha's cause Marie was gone... I snapped a few photos. I did some post processing on these, but am too lazy to upload them, so they are just how they came from the camera. I know the photo's aren't of Russ' quality, but I felt like I was finally starting to get a feel for the camera.

Nice pics, I like the one with the bikes...(fatty rear tire) and the pic quality looks really good. Russ would be proud.

the wife wanted us to head down there soon, just to look around. anything you would recommend taking a look at? did you park and walk around or just drive around.

So, we parked right near downtown Newport by the Tennis Hall of Fame and walked around there and on Thames Street and in that general area. Then we drove down the street with all of the mansions on it (forget the name, same road Tennis Hall of Fame is on) and parked at the Breakers Mansion to and walked along hte cliff walk. Then we did the Ocean Drive loop and hit up the state park on the ocean for a bit.

So the three things I would recommend is:
1. Walk around downtown, Thames Street, etc
2. Take a tour of one or more of the manisons... the Breakers manison is ridiculous (first picture) and hit up the cliff walk
3. Do the Ocean Drive loop - great views, great houses, etc

Here is a link to the overall route - Americas Cup Ave and Thames St are the big downtown areas to walk around and eat... sorry I have no clue how to do embedded google maps.
