In the wake of all the Haitian destruction, I saw this image from a boston newspaper online.
I'm pretty sure this kid started it all.

I'm so tired of hearing about the earthquake and people asking for money.
We have hungry children right here in NH and an economy in the dumps.
We need to fix our own issues before we ship money off to other countries.

^ agree totally.
when a "new tragedy" hits, we rush to aid. when we have an "ongoing tragedy" its just ignored for the most part.

no way there is NO poverty in this country........:unamused:
I could not agree more and I am even worse.. I tend to give to those with NO choices who have come to depend on human adults for survival... Children and Animals...
Here's an idea;
Let's use the billion dollars that we are sending to Haiti,
to pay all of our "out of work" construction workers, carpenters and engineers,
to go over to Haiti and rebuild the city
That way we aren't just sending money out of the country - but we are actually helping them A LOT while at the same time boosting our economy.
make sense?

I fully agree with everyone in this post. People donating are people that spend money to make themselves feel better about something.
...though I wish they would donate more because my company is first in line to ship portapotties over there

Don't worry, you guys. We've already started bringing the orphans and refugees here to the US. We'll start spending that money locally soon enough.

Hah, good point, but that doesn't matter. Prius drivers will fight with each other about who gave more to Haiti till the next natural or unnatural disaster.

No doubt. I could mention some of maine no one wants to.As I was once a teen here, I won't mention my own version of maine...
Haiti angers me in that the faults are written. It may as well be a prophecy. the capital is built on the worst of it. If to play with a map and a circle...they could make a safe spot to build nice things.

Mr. Madison, what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.
