I went to N.C. today. Had some fun, saw a crazy golf cart

Went to a 5 guys for the first time, incredible!

http://i115.photobucket.com/albums/n282/squeethebee/DSCN0973.jpg

Then, just over the N.C. border I decided to let mdennett99's girl drive and within 10 or 15 miles...

8 car pile up on 95S, how fun! 3 cars are definitely totaled, another one is possibly as well (the one we were in!)

So I will post the other pics I got in order from front of the line to the rear. I only have pics of 7/8 cars since the original guy who stopped for no reason had only scuffs on his bumper (of course).

Dan, posting from Days Inn in Selma, NC. And yeah, quarter's are buckled, and the car ain't worth that much anymore, so it's probably done.

Oh my. Sorry dude! Best of luck to mdennett's girlfriend.

So who's to blame / to pay for all of this in one of these cases?

And I can't beleive the damage sustained to that escalade. GM sure knows how to build a car.

squeethebee
01-31-2010, 10:52 PM
An idiot slamming on his brakes caused it all. There was nothing in the road, and no reason to come to an almost complete stop. Roads were dry as a fricken bone, that's how we were able to stop in time!

That guy in the Chevy was wicked chill too, I should know as we spent over 2 hours on the side of a highway with nothing to do but entertain ourselves by getting in the firefighter's way.

cman, everyone got a citation (for following to closely) except, ironically, the guy who actually caused it all. 7 in all, ridiculous. Not sure why we got one since we were actually able to stop in time though...

No thats not the problem with the toyotas anymore...they thought it was but it ended up being something with the drive by wire...

squeethebee
01-31-2010, 11:04 PM
It probably had to do with the fact that the driver was around 75+ year's old...

75+ from any state should either be tested every year for their driving license, or forfeit it. End of story on that one. As for the rest of the pile up, people just plain old don't pay attention when driving. And things go from bad to deadly in less than a second at even 65MPH.

I was on my way to Maine once and this sort of thing happened, but it involved a fully loaded Walmart truck jack-knifing to avoid slamming into someone that thought they missed their exit...so naturally they SLAMMED on their brakes in the high-speed lane. I'm sure the trucker lost his job, even though he did everything by the book. The people behind him, though, were busy being idiots and caused a massive pile-up that closed 95N for hours.

Glad you're ok, man! That could have been much more cereal.

Speed limit was actually 70, and we were doing just over that. Also, thanks.

I was out of the car before anyone else involved, Trying to get the cars that were blocking traffic outta the way, and making sure everyone was relatively ok. I also had to cut that one guy out of his car.

I won't lie, I had "that'll buff out" in my head all afternoon!

Ed, what year is her car? And is there any damage to the front other than the bumper?

'02 I believe. Rad support got slightly bent in, not bad at all, and maybe grille.

ed Im glad your ok

Thanks man, DEFINITELY feeling it in my arm this morning.

I find it interesting that there is such a large variety of cars from different locations in the accident. Being in North Carolina at least.

(Quebec, North Carolina, Massachusetts, Virginia, Alaska, New Hampshire, and whatever the escalade was)

squeethebee
02-02-2010, 05:38 AM
There were not that many people from NC out, on the news they were advising people to stay in unless they needed to leave.

Also, 3 days after the snow, their plan for taking care of it involved letting the sun melt it. I **** you not.

****, my neck and shoulder hurt.
