When I'm really heavy on the brake the front brakes seem to be doing all the work... are the brakes on WRX's biased toward the front or do you think my rear ones might need some attention?
This is definitely something I would want to fix because I'm a late breaker by nature. If I brake late into a corner the way the car is now there is a good chance it will understeer like crazy.

It is not just the WRX. All cars are heavily biased to the front. Only way to get around it a little is leave the fronts alone as for upgrades and stuff and change the rears. Get some kind of aggressive pad and a different rotor for the rear. Like the legacy rear upgrade.
You could even get some rear brembos.

That might be what I need to do... I was braking hard from 80mph and the front tires slipped, while the rears did nothing. I can say that the ABS system was non intrusive when compared to other ABS systems Ive tried.
Just in case... I'm gonna go bleed the brake lines and hope to get some air out of the rear lines.

I'd do the Legacy H6 rear upgrade and some stainless lines... better rear bias and pedal feel.

That's a first... usually we ***** about how crappy the Subaru ABS is(myself included).

Nice thing about your year car is EBD. I am pretty sure newer than 2003 WRX's have that and not a manual proportioning valve.

Most of the ABS systems I have tried were on cars 8 years old or older so I guess I'm no expert there.
and what is EBD? electronic brake distribution?

Yeah. It is just an electronic proportionvalve. That is pretty much it.
At high speeds it does the most. It is supposed to make the rear brakes stronger.
