Still definitely for sale, had two promising leads change their minds this week. It takes months when you live in the middle of nowhere and most people don't even know what the car is :unamused:

Not Hatin' just jealous that you were able to get such great wave pics. All my wave pics came out small but I was on O'ahu.

And I only have one lens for my D80. I need to get some other lenses just not sure what to get really.

Low f number (f-stop) allows for clearer pics in low light

high f number (f-stop) allows for clearer pics in high light and also helps when shooting action shots in high light

High zoom number let's you get far shots - but you need a steady hand

Zoom numbers lower than 35mm are considered wide-angle or "fish eye" - the lower the number the more you can fit in a shot at a close distance - but the distortion also becomes greater

those are the basics in lens selection :D - don't forget to double check the name brand before you buy - name brand definitely affects the quality

Nikon is top-notch
Sigma is so-so

I got some decent shots in hawaii. I'm not saying that I can't take good pics. They just didn't have Really big waves like that close enough to shore for me to get decent pics. My lens will only zoom so far.

Heh. Rent is cheaper here than Cambridge/Boston. And that's furnished and on the beach. True story :) My girlfriend works at the hospital here, and I do the same web crap I did before. Not a whole lot of luck required. Anyone is welcome to PM me if you're serious about moving out for a while.

yup - Nikon's are expensive :eek:

and, in my opinion, good pics have more to do with timing and lighting than they do with skill or equipment

i've seen some amazing shots taken by people with crapy non-SLR cameras who were just in the right place at the right time with the right lighting

i've also seen professionals and semi-professionals burn through film just trying to get one decent shot :spin: (myself included)
