    IHI VF22

    This is the standard equipment turbocharger used on the JDM V3 Subaru Impreza WRX and optional on the JDM Subaru Impreza WRX STi 22b. Of all the IHI models, the VF22 has the largest potential for peak horsepower, and is capable of supporting the highest boost levels. It is capable of running up to 25 psi. The VF22 is a roller bearing turbo that utilizes the P20 exhaust housing.
    Expect to achieve full boost with the proper mods and a quality tune between 3200-3700rpms. 2002-2005 WRX owners will need fuel upgrades for this turbocharger and proper engine management is highly recommended for all vehicles.


    IHI VF23
    (388cfm at 18psi, 250-325whp, Bolt-On)
    This is the standard equipment turbocharger used on the JDM Subaru Impreza WRX STi 22b. The VF23 is a ball bearing turbocharger that utilizes the P20 exhaust housing like the VF22. This housing is mated with the smaller compressor housing of the VF24 for fast response and excellent low and mid-range performance. It does not have the same top end power of the VF22, but spools up slightly quicker.
    Expect to achieve full boost with the proper mods and a quality tune between 2800-3300rpms. 2002-2005 WRX owners will need fuel upgrades for this turbocharger and proper engine management is highly recommended for all vehicles.


    IHI VF24
    (425cfm at 18psi, 250-325whp, Bolt-On)
    This is the standard equipment turbocharger used on the JDM V4 Subaru Impreza WRX STi. This turbo shares its compressor housing with the VF23, however, this housing is mated with a smaller (P18) exhaust side. The smaller characteristics of this turbo allow it to provide ample bottom end power and quick spool. This turbo is very popular for Imprezas with automatic transmissions and Group-N rally cars.
    Expect to achieve full boost with the proper mods and a quality tune between 2800-3300rpms. 2002-2005 WRX owners will need fuel upgrades for this turbocharger and proper engine management is highly recommended for all vehicles.


    IHI VF25

    This is the standard equipment turbocharger on the JDM V6 Subaru Impreza WRX STi. The VF29 is nearly identical to the VF24, with the same compressor and exhaust housings. However, the compressor wheel in the VF29 has been changed slightly. The changes made to the compressor wheel in this model are generally viewed as improvements, and as such, this unit is typically chosen over the VF24. Has a different location for the pressure hose on the wastegate actuator.
    Expect to achieve full boost with the proper mods and a quality tune between 2900-3300rpms. 2002-2005 WRX owners will need fuel upgrades for this turbocharger and proper engine management is highly recommended for all vehicles.

    IHI VF30

    IHI VF36

The VF36 is a twin-scroll turbocharger that utilizes a ball bearing design, a P25 exhaust housing, and titanium aluminide (TiAl) compressor wheel for improved spool. It is essentially a fast spooling VF34.

    IHI VF37

    This is the standard equipment turbocharger used on the JDM V8-V9 Subaru Impreza WRX STI. The VF37 is a twin-scroll turbocharger that utilizes a thrust bearing design and a P25 exhaust housing. It is essentially a fast spooling VF30.

    This is the standard equipment turbocharger used on the JDM Legacy MY04-06. The VF38 is a twin-scroll that utilizes a Titanium turbine and shaft. This turbocharger yields tremendous spool-up but offers less top-end than the VF36/VF37. The spool capabilities of this turbo are demonstrated on the JDM Legacy GT, which reaches peak torque at 2400RPM.

    IHI VF39
    (250-325whp, Bolt-On)
    This is the standard equipment turbocharger used on the USDM Subaru Impreza WRX STI. It can be found on all model years from 2004-2006. The VF39 utilizes a thrust bearing design and the P18 exhaust housing.
    Expect to achieve full boost with the proper mods and a quality tune between 3000-3500rpms. 2002-2005 WRX owners will need fuel upgrades for this turbocharger and proper engine management is highly recommended for all vehicles that utilize this turbo aftermarket. Though they are prone to cracking, VF39’s can be had for very cheap if bought used.


    IHI VF40
    This is the standard equipment turbocharger used on the USDM Subaru Legacy GT MY05-06.

    IHI VF41
    This is the standard equipment turbocharger used on the JDM Subaru Forester STI. It utilizes a P18 exhaust housing.

    IHI VF42
    This is the standard equipment turbocharger used on the JDM Subaru Impreza WRX STi S203 and S204. The VF42 features a twin-scroll design with a slightly larger compressor than the VF36/VF37 turbos and different turbine design (more blades). The VF42 is a roller-bearing turbo and is similar in size to the VF22 turbo, but the twin-scroll exhaust housing yields faster spool-up and a superior top-end.

    IHI VF43
    (250-325whp, Bolt-On)
    This is the standard equipment turbocharger used on the MY07 USDM Subaru Impreza WRX STI. It can be found on both base STI's and STI Limited's. The VF43 utilizes a thrust bearing design and the P18 exhaust housing. The primary difference between the VF43 and the VF39 used previously on STI's seems to be the stiffness of the wastegate. The VF43 has a stiffer wastegate designed to reduce boost creep issues.
    Expect to achieve full boost with the proper mods and a quality tune between 3000-3500rpms. 2002-2005 WRX owners will need fuel upgrades for this turbocharger and proper engine management is highly recommended for all vehicles that utilize this turbo aftermarket.


    IHI VF44

    This is the standard equipment turbocharger used on the USDM Subaru Legacy GT MY07. The VF46 utilizes a new five-arc scroll design to improve low and midrange performance over the previous VF40.


    IHI VF48
    (250-325whp, Bolt-On)
    This is the standard equipment turbocharger used on the USDM Subaru WRX STI MY08-10. The primary difference between the VF48 and the VF43 used previously on STI's is the more advanced bearing design.
    Expect to achieve full boost with the proper mods and a quality tune between 3000-3500rpms. 2002-2005 WRX owners will need fuel upgrades for this turbocharger and proper engine management is highly recommended for all vehicles. This turbocharger is not a direct bolt-on for the MY08+ WRX.


    IHI VF52
    (250-325whp, Bolt-On)
    This is the standard equipment turbocharger used on the USDM Subaru WRX MY09-10. This turbocharger is similar to the VF48 but utilizes the USDM Legacy GT-style housing.
    Expect to achieve full boost with the proper mods and a quality tune between 2800-3300rpms. This is NOT a direct bolt-on for 2002-2007 WRX, but will fit the 2008 WRX and 2005+ Legacy GT without modification.

    Everyone has seen or heard about Evo3 16g turbos and TD05H 18g turbos for the Subaru 2.0 and 2.5 engines, our newest turbo is the FP 68HTA™Turbocharger for the Subaru STi/WRX unit which out flows both the E316g and 18g wheels and allows for higher PR operation without increased compressor outlet temperatures like the existing 16g and 18g wheels. Mass flow is increased to a whopping 47lb/min which is several lb/min greater than either the E316g or the 18g wheels are capable of. Rapid spool and large torque numbers are guaranteed by the TD05H turbine section.

    The new for 2008 HTA update for the FP GREEN HTA™ for Subaru STI/WRX delivers an increase in maximum flow rate from 49lb/min to over 56lb/min without an increase in turbo lag, while also decreasing compressor outlet temperatures with better compressor efficiency than previous models.
    The FP GREEN HTA™ for Subaru STI/WRX turbo features a 8cm Subaru flanged internally wastegated turbine housing with 1 bar and a 3" compressor housing.

    Forced Performance HTA GT3076R
    (57 lb/min, 375-570whp, May Require Modification)
    The 76mm size HTA wheel has 54.8mm inducer and flows over 57lb/min without dropping efficiency, and works well at pressure ratios as high as 4.5:1 .
    There optional turbine housings for this turbo, but the recommended default housing is the .82 A/R or .63 A/R T31 style with it's compact 2.5" diameter 4 bolt outlet.


    Forced Performance Red
    (65 lb/min, 400-650whp, May Require Modification)
    Not longer manufactured by FP.
    The FP RED™ for Subaru STI/WRX has a flow rating of 950cfm or about 65lb/min. It features a large TD06 turbine wheel and is generally run in the larger 8cm turbine housing for max power.
    The 3" inlet of the FP RED™ for Subaru STI/WRX means that the TGVs will need to be removed from the vehicle to gain the required compressor housing clearance.
    Expect to achieve full boost with the proper mods and a quality tune between 4500-5000rpms. Fuel upgrades for this turbocharger and proper engine management should be considered necessary for all vehicles.

    On many 2.0l WRX motors, people running the basic bolt on modifications can expect 275-300 AWHP on a good tune with pump gas at 18-20 PSI. Those wanting to run race gas and 24-26 PSI can expect upwards of 325-330 AWHP.
    Many 2.5l STI owners have been impressed with this turbo from the standpoint that it spools up very fast, but its limited flow capacity has limited this turbo on pump gas to around 320-330 AWHP at 18-20 PSI. Many 2.5l STI owners would be better suited with the GT11 or larger for those looking to make more HP.

    2.0l guys can expect a bit of lag from this 55 lb/min CHRA, however it is capable of making between 340-360 AWHP on pump gas and 18-20 PSI on a well tuned motor. The majority of the 2.0l fanatics tell us you must get this on a dynometer right away to get the most out of it. They also say at 4,000 RPM’s its time to hold on tight, because this turbo hits HARD!
    This turbo is where the 2.5l guys need to be from the start, the extra displacement provides enough grunt to get this guy fully spooled before 4,000 RPM’s and is simply a great turbo for a daily driver who wants to make 360-380 AWHP on pump gas at 18-20 PSI. Expect over 400 AWHP on a great tune up, all the supporting modifications, race gas, and boost pressure between 24-26 PSI.

    Slowboy Racing GT-13
    (60 lb/min, 375-450whp, Bolt-On)
    For the EJ20 guys, this is a big turbo capable of flowing 60 lbs/min of air. This turbo on a 2.0l motor will not achieve full boost until the low 4,200-4,300 RPM range. This means, you better be revving your motor to 8,000 RPM’s to make the most of this turbo! Since most of you are not revving this high, we suggest for the most part this remain an EJ25 turbo for the 2.5l crowd.
    The STI fanatics have reported some success with this turbo using only the true bolt on compressor cover; however we suggest using the 3” inlet cover to get the most performance out of this particular CHRA. 2.5l guys should expect between 350-400 AWHP on pump gas at 18-20 PSI, and upwards of 430-450 AWHP with race gas and 24-26 PSI. This turbo is very capable of 30 plus PSI; do not try this at home! Dynographs coming soon.

    Slowboy Racing GT-14
    (65 lb/min, 400-500whp, Bolt-On)
    Unless you are a fully built, hi revving EJ20 please look the other way! This turbo is hefty, you will not go looking for the beef any longer with this turbocharger!
    This turbo is much better suited on an EJ25 with higher than stock compression or someone that has a bit of tolerance for a high boost threshold and is willing to have all his fun from 4,500 RPM’s and up! This turbo will only fit in the 3” compressor cover, so direct easy fitment is not certain, however smiles are guaranteed once you have the fitment behind you! Expect 400-425 AWHP on pump gas between 18-20 PSI, and capable of 440-460 AWHP on race gas. Dynographs coming soon.

    Slowboy Racing 35R
    (65 lb/min, 450-600whp, May Require Modification)
    EJ20, 2.0l cars have not even tested this turbo yet! So, at this point we are unaware of how it would perform.
    On a mildly worked EJ25, this turbo shows remarkable spool up for its size, which we contribute to the larger turbine wheel (same compressor wheel as GT-14, however the turbine wheel is larger). On all inline motors, the GT-14 spools a good bit faster than the 35R, however not on the EJ’s! This turbo has made over 405 AWHP on a 2.5l at only 19 PSI. It makes almost 400 ft/lbs of torque at 4200 RPM’s.
    If you have some patience, and are good at making things fit, this is the turbo for you. Pair with our 3” inlet for a somewhat easier fit. The install is not for beginners; however it will bolt up to your stock up pipe location! Make sure you call and talk to one of us before ordering online.

It also requires a GReddy Airinx intake and fuel upgrades / engine management. This is an awesome upgrade for any STi, but it is not a simple bolt-on. The kit includes piping to make it work with GReddy's front mount intercooler, but we recommend running something larger and getting your own pipes fabricated.
