Long distance mountain bike ride?

Anyone know of a trail/system of trails/fire roads that someone could conceivable ride on for 100+ miles with limited paved roads and camping along the way? I've been looking at Kingdom Trails up in VT, but that seems more like a start from a central place and ride around kind of place. While awesome looking, I'm looking for one way trip kind of thing. Or even a big loop.

I know there are snowmobile trails that go from Southern NH to Canada too.

I found a trail that stretched the length of VT, but its open only to those asshole cross country skiers.

I know, right? "Yes, lets glide across the snow like losers!" Ugh. I think snowmobile trails are the way to go, unless those are winter use only. Looks like VT or NH will be the place to go, as you can't piss in MA without hitting a town.

the vast majority of snowmobile trails are granted winter use only and you would need permission from the land owner for summer use. Many trails in VT travel through cow pasture which is fine in the winter as the cows don't go out, but it summer they are in the fields. You touched upon the length of VT trail. That's the Long Trail and it is hike/ski only. My guess is the trail admins think that mtb use will cause way too much trail damage. I think that an east coast point to point ride would be pretty hard to come by, even in northern VT/NH. Might be easier to build a ride that links open trail systems with as little road riding as possible. A good length (but not as epic as you want) would be an out and back on the Rockingham Rec trail between Manchester and Newfields. 28 miles each way on a fairly well maintained rail trail.

Good luck, endurance rides are pretty fun so long as you plan for it. I got stuck on what turned into a 45 mile ride that was planned to be half that. It's what happens when you miss a key turn.

I meant to mention that, but I was trying to keep my 8 month old off my keyboard at the time. Fort Rock is a slight detour off the Rockingham Rec Trail, about 2 miles from the Newfields end. There is a direct snowmobile connection into the Fort Rock system, and as Gary said, spectacular xc trails with a lot of tech and fast, flowy sections too.

The Rockingham Rec Trail cuts through FOMBA as well on the Auburn NH side. You can also head north from this trail through Tower Hill onto Bear Brook State Park.
